Prices exclude VAT, domain registration and hosting, which we arrange in your own name and at cost. Full-time registered master's and doctoral students receive 20 percent off Starter and Growth on proof of registration. Departments, research centres and conferences are quoted individually, and we invoice institutions on standard procurement terms.

Academic records change constantly: a new article, a new grant, a new student, a keynote. Care plans cover the updates so your profile never quietly goes stale. Cancel or change tier at any time.
Your website works whether or not you take one. We train you to make your own updates and give you a written guide and a recording of the session. A care plan simply means you never have to think about it, which most clients decide is worth R450 a month once the first busy semester arrives.

You send a message or book a slot. We reply within one business day with a short intake form.
Thirty minutes, online. We establish your audience, the appointments or opportunities you are pursuing, and the right package.
Fixed quotation with deliverables, timeline and exclusions. Fifty percent deposit, or a purchase order if your institution is paying.
You receive a guided questionnaire and checklist. Send your CV and we extract most of it for you. This is the only real work you do.
We present a design concept, you approve or adjust, and we build the full site with your content in place.
You review a live preview link and mark up changes in one consolidated round.
We connect your domain, submit to search engines, and train you on updates. Then your care plan begins, if you want one.
Why Academix Studio
Most web designers have to be taught what an h-index is, why an ORCID identifier matters, or how a supervision record differs from a teaching load. We do not. Academix Studio was built inside GoTo Communications, a consultancy that works with universities and research organisations, so the vocabulary, the conventions and the institutional realities are already understood.
Questions we are asked most
No, and it is the situation we design for. You send content, approve a design and attend one training session. Everything technical, including the domain, hosting, security and search submission, is handled for you. If you would rather never touch the site again, a care plan means you never have to.
An institutional page belongs to the institution. It follows a fixed template, is usually updated through a central web office, and disappears if you move. Your own site is under your control, presents your full record rather than a summary, and follows you between appointments. The two work well together: your staff page links to your site, and your site links back.
Frequently, yes. Website development and research dissemination are commonly allowable under communication or dissemination budget lines in South African research grants. We issue a formal quotation and tax invoice in the format your finance office requires, register as a supplier where needed, and can accept a purchase order and standard payment terms.
On the Executive package we synchronise your publications automatically from ORCID or Google Scholar, so new outputs appear without any action from you. On other packages, the Standard and Complete care plans include a scheduled publication refresh, or you can update the list yourself in a few minutes using the training we provide.
A .co.za domain is roughly R120 to R200 a year and hosting suitable for a personal academic site is roughly R80 to R150 a month, both billed to you directly at cost by the providers, in your own name. A care plan with us is optional and starts at R250 a month. There are no licence fees and no per-page charges.
Yes. You can start with a 50 percent deposit and settle the balance from R300 a month. There is no interest, no credit check and no third-party finance company involved. We agree the schedule in writing before we begin, you may settle early at any time, and your site launches on the normal timeline rather than waiting for the balance.
Turnaround runs from seven working days for the Starter package to about four weeks for Enterprise, measured from the date we receive your complete content. Content collection is the step that determines the pace, so we make it as guided as possible. If you have a deadline such as a grant application, a conference or a job application, tell us and we will confirm whether it is achievable before you pay anything.
Yes. Academics are our specialisation, not our limit. We build the same calibre of site for consultants, lawyers, medical practitioners, artists, authors, coaches, entrepreneurs, NGOs and small businesses. The structure changes to suit the field, the standard does not.
